A time to sit in stillness, a time to heal.

This is a difficult and strange time for many, a time of uncertainty, worry, fear, anger a resistance towards the unknown. A global pandemic hyped up by every major news outlet, social media platform and radio station. People are really scared, the bubble has been burst in a society where we seem to have a pill for every ill, a treatment or a cure to prevent most things. This is different, there is no magic pill or vaccination, (yet!) only a very simple message. WASH YOUR HANDS AND SELF- DISTANCE.

That’s the message many of us are hearing and its not enough, we want more, we want someone to tell us if we do this or that its going to be okay! Its a strange time, we are all looking at each other hoping someone can tell us what the heck is going on? There is a loss of control and we are all feeling vulnerable at the lack of solutions. Our everyday life and routine as we know it has been thrown into disarray and we have suddenly gone into fight or flight mode thinking that this will somehow protect us from the threat. We believe worrying will alleviate the problem, only it wont.

Worry means the mind is controlling you . Worry is always pointless. A solution never comes out of worry.”


Stop! stop! stop! tuning into the news and radio channels or social media platforms that are enhancing your fear! There is staying informed and staying in a state of panic, its not healthy, all you are doing is feeding the fear and hysteria and unknowingly feeding it to others. Unfollow any page/person who is further fueling that fear and panic its absolutely okay to do this, its called self-care and we should all be practicing it. You have to turn down the background noise and learn to sit with yourself in this present moment and understand that the present moment is happening now. In the present moment all is well, the future hasn’t arrived and the past has gone, so settle your mind on the here and now wherever you are in the world as you read this.

Its also really important to know that if you are in self- quarantine your chance of getting the virus are pretty slim, so if you can make this a choice do so. If not self- distancing is the next best thing. There are so many pro-active and positive choices we can make such as eating well, drinking well, sleeping well and reducing stress, consciously choosing to not live in a state of fear and instead opting for hope and optimism is far more beneficial, not only to you but to those around you. Remember e-motion is energy in motion so if your emotions are stuck on fear or panic mode this energy becomes stuck which puts a strain on your immune system in a time when you want to keep it nice and strong not to mention your mental and emotional well being. Try doing 10 minutes of breath work or meditation everyday, this is the game changer this is how you restore the balance in the mind and body so please if you are extremely anxious or fearful make this a priority each day.

We are all in this together, it doesn’t matter how big your house is, what car you drive, your job title, your qualifications, your social status, your political, religious or spiritual views, if your vegan, vegetarian or a carnivore, this virus isn’t selective neither does it judge and when we remove all the above labels there is no separation, divisions or hierarchy, we are all one, all connected. Find comfort in knowing that this affects us all, you are not alone even if it feels like it. This is a time where we need to put the good stuff out into the collective consciousness, if we want to make a positive impact on a global level and bring about balance and change. This is a time of reflection and for us all to really look at whats important in our lives, its a time for personal and global change, a time for healing, a time to let go of all the hurts, anger, guilt and resentments we have been suppressing over the years. Its a time to let go and re-connect to ourselves first and foremost and to others. It’s a time to start looking after our planet, giving back what we have taken and change our ways. This is a wake up call to take positive action if not for ourselves then our children and grand-children and so on. This is an opportunity for people to learn how to self-regulate their emotions as well as to honour how they are really feeling but also to find the courage to move beyond the fear and resistance in order to accept what is and stay in the present.

Make the best of this time, read books, write that letter you kept meaning to write, start a blog, put together that business plan, meditate, try some yoga, cook together as a family. Plant some trees or fruits and vegetables, get out in nature where you can, bring out your inner- child, have fun! Watch some feel good movies, laugh together, cry together if you need to release those pent up emotions. Whatever you choose to do, make sure it fills you up with the good stuff and feeds your soul, you owe it yourself. The world is not going to end remind yourself of this, practice gratitude, for tomorrow you can be sure the sun will rise once more and so will you, only stronger and more resilient.
