I love cooking with the humble potato whether it’s air-frying, mashing, baking, steaming or oven roasting them. They are such an amazing healing food and so versatile, they can be seasoned in a variety of ways to suit your taste. We love them air-fried with some rosemary and a pinch of salt or mashed with kale and cashew cream.
I see so many people fearing them as a nightshade food but honestly, it couldn’t be further from the truth, they actually have so many healing benefits that many people miss out on because of misinformation. Sometimes we need to be open and willing to unlearn so we can, in turn, re-learn even if this means changing old belief systems, this can help immensely when it comes to healing.
High in potassium, B6 and full of amino acids, potatoes are a great choice especially if you have EBV ( Epstein barr virus) as they are antiviral, anti-fungal and antibacterial and help ward off inflammation, arthritis, joint pains and chronic illness to name a few.
There is so much conflicting information out there and it can be hard to know what to take in and what to discard. Over the years I have followed one rule of thumb and it is this, If you stick as close to nature when it comes to the foods you consume, you cannot go far wrong, particularly foods that are in their whole form and have not been manipulated. Mother nature provided us with everything we need to maintain good health and happiness. If we steer from this path, over time we will eventually end up in trouble when it comes to our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

When you choose to commit to changing out all the foods that no longer serve you but are looking for something a little bit different from fruit, then look no further than bliss balls! They are prefect if you are on the go and also for satisfying your sweet tooth in a cleaner way and without the guilt!
You can find some great ideas online to suit individual tastes, there is literally an abundance of recipes and the great thing is, they require no baking. These little beauties are made up of almonds, dates, cinnamon and cacao, I don’t really measure out the ingredients anymore, I literally just chuck it all in the food processor until they reach the correct consistency. Bliss!
- 200g almonds
- 400g medjool dates
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 2½ tablespoons of almond butter
- 4 tablespoons raw cacao powder
- Put the almonds in a food processor and pulse until they’re nicely crushed.
- Add the dates and coconut oil. Pulse until fully mixed.
- Add the almond butter and cacao, and then mix again in the food processor.
- Take a tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a ball. Continue doing this until the mixture is used up.
- Place the rolled balls into the freezer for around one hour, then remove and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
